Yes, in two ways. The live demo opens a full sample library straight away, with no sign-up. And the monthly and yearly plans both start with a 7-day free trial.

Pick the monthly or yearly plan and enter your payment details at checkout. Nothing is charged for the first 7 days. The trial is your time to decide: if you don’t cancel before it ends, the subscription starts, the first payment is taken automatically, and subscription payments aren’t refundable. The free trial is offered once per customer, so if you’ve subscribed before, billing starts straight away.

Cancel at any point before the 7 days are up: open your profile → Subscription → Manage subscription in Otium. You keep using Otium until the trial ends, and you’re never charged. You don’t need to email anyone.

Monthly is $4.99 a month. Yearly is $36 a year, which saves $23.88 compared with paying monthly. Lifetime is $99 once, with every future update included. Every plan includes every feature.

You pay once and it never renews. Lifetime has no free trial. Instead, you have 14 days after buying to change your mind and get a full refund.

Payments are handled by Paddle, our Merchant of Record, so you may see “Paddle” on your statement. Prices are listed in US dollars, and any sales tax or VAT that applies in your country is calculated by Paddle at checkout. We never see or store your full card details.

For Lifetime, yes: write to us within 14 days of buying and we’ll refund it in full, no questions asked. Monthly and yearly subscriptions aren’t refunded, because the 7-day free trial is there so you can decide before paying anything. That includes the first payment after the trial, except where the law requires a refund. Details are in the refund policy.

Yes, and you can do it yourself in a couple of taps: profile → Subscription → Manage subscription. You keep access until the end of the period you’ve already paid for, and you’re not charged again.

Yes. Moving from monthly to yearly happens straight away and charges the difference for the rest of the period. If you’re still on your trial, you’re simply billed yearly when the trial ends. Moving from yearly to monthly takes effect when your current period ends. You can buy Lifetime at any time. Otium then reminds you to cancel the old subscription, so you aren’t billed twice.

Your books and reading history stay safe in your account. Subscribe again whenever you like and everything is right where you left it. You can also export your whole library to CSV while you have access.

You keep access for a few days while Paddle retries the payment, so a card that expired or a bank hiccup won’t lock you out.

Yes. Import from Goodreads, StoryGraph, or any CSV or JSON file. A guided import matches your columns and shows you a preview before anything is added.

Always. Export your library to CSV at any time, and your quotes too. Your library is never locked in.

Yes. There are no ads and your data is never sold. Analytics only run if you accept them in the cookie banner. The privacy policy explains exactly what is stored and where.

Any device with a modern browser: iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac and Windows. You can add it to your home screen or dock, and it then opens like a regular app. There’s nothing to download from an app store. On iPhone and iPad, open Otium in Safari and tap Share → Add to Home Screen. In Chrome or Edge, use the install icon in the address bar.

Yes. Otium keeps your library on your device, so you can keep reading and logging without a connection.

Type a few letters of the title and pick a match; the cover and details fill in by themselves. You can also scan a book’s barcode with your camera, enter everything by hand, or import a whole library at once.

Otium speaks 10 languages: English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Ukrainian, Japanese and Chinese. There are 5 themes, from Blossom (light) to Midnight (true black).

Otium is made independently by Lesia, a lifelong reader who got tired of tracking every rating, re-read and late-night reading spiral in clunky spreadsheets. It’s the warm, made-for-readers app she always wished existed.

Otium is a modern web app (a progressive web app) built with React. Accounts, sync and storage run on Supabase. Payments are handled by Paddle, emails are sent through Resend, and the site is hosted on Vercel. Book details and covers come from Open Library and Google Books.

Starting as a web app means one Otium on every device, with nothing to download, and every update reaches all your devices at once. It still installs to your home screen and opens like a regular app. Apps for the App Store and Google Play are on our roadmap. When they arrive, your account and library carry straight over, so there’s no need to wait.
