Terms of Use

Effective 5 June 2026

Acceptance

By creating an account or using Otium you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.

The service

Otium is a personal tool for tracking your reading. We provide it on a best-effort basis and may change or improve features over time.

Accounts & access

There are two ways to access Otium. Lifetime access — a one-time access token purchased on Etsy and redeemed when you create your account; it stays yours for as long as the service runs. Or a subscription — billed monthly or yearly through our payment provider, giving you access for as long as it stays active.

Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel anytime and keep access until the end of the period you already paid for; see the Refund Policy for details.

Keep your token and login private — you’re responsible for activity on your account. Don’t share, resell or attempt to bypass access tokens.

Payments, subscriptions & trials

Subscription purchases are processed by Paddle, which acts as the Merchant of Record (the authorized reseller) for these transactions. Your purchase is therefore also subject to Paddle’s buyer terms, “Paddle” (or “Paddle.com”) may appear on your statement, and any applicable taxes are handled by Paddle.

Paid plans are offered monthly or yearly and renew automatically at the then-current price until you cancel. By subscribing you authorize these recurring charges.

A free trial (currently 7 days) may be offered. If you don’t cancel before the trial ends, the subscription starts and the first payment is charged automatically. You can cancel anytime from your account or via the payment provider; cancelling stops future renewals and you keep access until the end of the current paid period.

We may change subscription prices; any change applies from your next renewal, with reasonable notice. Refunds are described in the Refund Policy.

Acceptable use

Don’t misuse the app: no illegal use, no attempts to break, overload, reverse-engineer or disrupt the service or other users.

Your content

Your library and notes are yours. You grant us the limited permission needed to store and process them so we can provide the app to you.

Demo

The demo is for trying the app. Its sample data is not saved and may be reset at any time.

No warranty & backups

The app is provided "as is", without warranties. We aren’t liable for lost data — please keep your own backups (use the CSV export).

Limitation of liability

To the extent allowed by law, Otium is not liable for indirect or incidental damages arising from using (or being unable to use) the app.

Termination

You can stop using Otium anytime. We may suspend access that breaks these Terms.

Changes

We may update these Terms; continued use means you accept the changes. Effective 5 June 2026.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Georgia.
