Privacy Policy
Effective 5 June 2026
Who we are
Otium ("we", "us") is a personal reading-tracker app. This policy explains what data we handle and why. Questions: chercheuse.du.feu@gmail.com.
What we collect
Account details — your email and the name/nickname you choose. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email and basic profile from Google.
Your library — the books, notes, quotes, reviews, goals and reading activity you add. Most of this lives in your browser; if you have an account it is also stored in our database so it syncs across devices.
Feedback you send — your message, optional email, and any screenshots you attach.
Basic technical info — browser type, language and the page you were on, used to reproduce bugs.
How we use it
To run the app and keep your library available to you.
To answer and act on your feedback.
To send occasional product news or offers — only if you ticked that box. You can opt out anytime.
Where it is stored & who processes it
We use Supabase (database, authentication and file storage). Sign-in can use Google. Notification emails are sent via an email provider (e.g. Resend). Lifetime access tokens are purchased through Etsy. Subscription payments are processed by Paddle, acting as Merchant of Record — we never receive or store your full card details.
These providers process data on our behalf; your data may be stored on servers outside your country.
Cookies & analytics
We use analytics to understand how Otium is used so we can improve it: Google Analytics (which sets cookies) and Vercel Analytics (cookieless).
These run only after you accept them in the cookie banner — nothing analytics-related loads or is sent before your consent. Declining keeps them off.
You can change your choice at any time via “Cookie settings” at the bottom of this Privacy Policy; withdrawing consent stops further analytics collection.
Local storage & demo
The app saves your data in your browser’s local storage so it works smoothly. The live demo uses sample data kept only for your session — nothing there is saved to your account.
Marketing emails
We only email you marketing if you opted in, and every message includes an unsubscribe link.
Retention
We keep your account data while your account is active. Ask us to delete it and we will remove it from our database (local-browser data is cleared from your device).
Your rights
You can access, correct, export (the app exports your library to CSV) or delete your data. To make a request, email chercheuse.du.feu@gmail.com.
Children
Otium is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). Please don’t use it if you’re younger.
Changes
We may update this policy; we’ll change the date below when we do. Effective 5 June 2026.
